In 2010 La Hogue established it’s own small flock of sheep looked after by owner of La Hogue, Chris. The sheep are managed in a traditional non intensive high welfare system grazing paddocks at La Hogue and several local thoroughbred studs.
Due to the popularity of the lamb produced, in 2012 the flock was increased using breeds such as Romney crosses and traditional Suffolk and Continental Breeds. Pedigree Charolais rams are used from top local MV Accredited breeder John Maxwell at Moor Farm, Fordham producing fantastic high quality lamb. To compliment the existing extensive High Welfare system, Chris now has help from local contract shepherds and runs ewes on 650 acres of heath and marshy land at the famous Euston Estate, Suffolk as well as La Hogue.
The lamb is taken personally by Chris to a local abattoir and then is skilfully and sensitively prepared by our full time butchers. Our Lamb is available both from our butchery counter in the Farm Shop and as whole and half lambs specifically cut to your requirements.
